Redefining Ghana’s Film, TV & Digital Media — One Woman at a Time

There’s a silent revolution happening in Ghana’s film and television industry — and at the heart of it is a fierce, unstoppable network of women. Welcome to Women in Film and Television Ghana (WIFT Ghana)— a force committed to rewriting the story of women in media.

As the Ghanaian chapter of Women in Film & Television International (WIFTI) — a global network with over 50 powerful chapters worldwide — our mission is clear: To close the gender gap in production, leadership, funding, and storytelling. We’re not just advocating for change. We are building it.

Who We Are

WIFT Ghana is home to a growing collective of filmmakers, producers, directors, screenwriters, editors, actors, cinematographers, and media professionals united by a common vision: to amplify women’s voices, champion equity, and reshape how stories are told — both in front of and behind the screen.

We believe that a fully inclusive and female-empowered industry is not just an ideal — it’s essential. A dynamic, diverse media landscape is one where every voice matters and every woman thrives.

From the President

President
Juliet Ibrahim / President

It is both an honour and a responsibility to serve as President of Women in Film & Television Ghana (WIFT Ghana) — a dynamic, purpose-driven network of visionary women in Ghana’s film, television, and media industries.

As part of the global Women in Film & Television International (WIFTI) network, our mission is to amplify the voices and visibility of women across every level of the entertainment industry. While the global industry has made progress, women in Ghana — particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds — still face significant barriers, including limited access to leadership roles, funding, fair compensation, and safe, inclusive workspaces.

WIFT Ghana exists to change that.

Our Vision

To see a future where women in Ghana’s media and entertainment industry have equal access to opportunities, are financially independent, and are recognized as influential leaders shaping the future of storytelling, innovation, and growth.

Our Mission

Our goal is to support women’s progress in Ghanaian cinema, television and media by giving them access to advocacy, professional networking, education and mentorship.

Our goal is to create a vibrant and encouraging atmosphere where women can advance their careers, elevate their voices, and have a sufficient impact on the media.

Core Values

01

Economic Empowerment

We offer training, mentorship, funding access, and visibility platforms that empower women to break the cycle of underrepresentation, exploitation, and economic inequality. When women succeed economically, they gain power to shape their stories and destinies.

02

Equality

We relentlessly advocate for equal pay, equal leadership opportunities, and equitable creative recognition. Our programs are designed to push women into decision-making roles and influence policies that level the playing field.

03

Capacity Building

Through continuous training and creative business education, we equip women with the tools and insights to thrive in the ever-evolving screen business — from script to screen, and from concept to commercial success.

04

Access & Global Collaboration

We leverage our international network across WIFTI to expand access, spark co-productions, and build bridges for Ghanaian women to collaborate on a global stage.

05

Diversity & Inclusion

We embrace Ghana’s multicultural and multiethnic identity by supporting diverse storytelling. We champion voices from underrepresented communities and push for authentic, inclusive narratives that reflect the depth and soul of Ghanaian society.
